This is an old house built of Burgundy stone, located at the entrance to the village of Villiers-le-Bois, along the Bragelogne road. Originally, the house opened almost exclusively onto the road, benefiting from a south-facing exposure, turning its back on the garden located to the north, with which it had no connection.
The work has helped restore this balance. A living room extension was built on the north side, constructed from a timber frame with a coated hempcrete infill. Large wooden French doors now open across the entire width of the living room, extending the interior space onto a terracotta terrace laid out in the same direction.
We also improved the thermal comfort of the house as a whole. Some windows and doors were replaced with energy-efficient wooden joinery. Insulating lining was also installed from the inside to preserve the authentic appearance of the stone facade on the street side.
