The project involves the construction of the new Vendeuvre-sur-Barse Road Center, located on the southwest edge of the town, within a business park. The architecture, inspired by vernacular forms, combines natural materials such as wood and raw aluminum.
The general composition of the site is inspired by the typology of the surrounding farm buildings, with a “U”-shaped layout defined by three buildings delimiting an interior courtyard.
One of the buildings, located to the west on the property boundary with the Territoire d'Orient waste disposal site, houses the garage and a large canopy for vehicles. It also serves as a barrier against the prevailing winds and rain from the west.
To the north, a second building houses the agents' work premises and constitutes the public facade on Rue des Bleuets.
To the south, lower storage huts close off the courtyard. They are lined with a hedgerow providing a transition to the neighboring farmland. This hedge extends to close off the plot to the east.
The courtyard's opening to the south allows for optimal sunshine, while the overhanging roofs provide sun protection and create pleasant conditions for use between interior and exterior spaces.
Regarding the construction choices, the metal trays used on the facade and roof are generally only compatible with conventional insulation materials such as glass wool or rock wool, in accordance with the technical opinions of the CSTB. However, as part of this project, and with the agreement of the project owner, a pilot project was set up in partnership with Soprema-Pavatex and ArcelorMittal to experiment with the use of wood fibers in a double-skin system.
Finally, the runoff water from the site is directed by gravity towards a pond created at the low point of the land, ensuring natural water treatment.
