Pôle scolaire de l'Arlette
The project was born from the need to bring together children living around Arsonval in the same primary school. This school is located in the heart of the town, less than 100 meters from the Town Hall, the Salle des Fêtes, the Church, the Rotislas Loukine Museum and the Library.
Located on a square adjacent to the National Road that connects Arsonval and Troyes to the West, and Arsonval - Bar-sur-Aube to the East, the school brings a playfulness to this space defined by the limestone walls of the backyards. We decided to build the school in limestone masonry in continuity with the existing walls.
Climbing roses soften the harshness of the stones and take advantage of the setting sun.
To the east, the fully glazed classrooms enjoy a view of the poplar grove watered by the Arlette which flows into the Aube a few metres further on.
Seen from the sky, the fully vegetated cover blends in with the poplar grove. Roof overhangs and a covered courtyard protect the facades; they are generous sheltered play areas, punctuated by stone benches.
